Sightline Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-10

Sightline is a personal golf scorecard app. This policy explains what data the app handles.

Your data and iCloud

Every round, score, voice note transcript, sketch, and course you create or play is stored locally on your iPhone and synced to your private iCloud database via Apple's CloudKit. This data is encrypted, scoped to your Apple ID, and not accessible to us — only you (and devices signed into your Apple ID) can read it.

Voice note audio recordings stay on the device they were recorded on and are never uploaded — only the transcript text is synced.

If you've also enabled iPhone backups to iCloud or to a computer, your app data may be included in those standard device backups. We don't control or access those backups.

We do not operate any servers. We do not have user accounts (your iCloud account is yours, managed by Apple). We do not collect, transmit, sell, share, or view any content you create in the app.

You can disable Sightline's iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → Sightline. With sync disabled, data stays local-only.

Permissions the app requests

Permission Why
Microphone To record voice notes per hole. Recordings are saved only on your device.
Speech Recognition To transcribe voice notes into text. Apple's on-device recognition is used where supported; audio does not leave your device for transcription unless Apple's on-device model is unavailable for your device/language, in which case Apple's speech service is used per Apple's privacy policy.

Purchases

Optional supporter contributions and tips are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We never see your payment details. Apple shares only the fact that a purchase succeeded so the app can mark you as a supporter locally.

Diagnostics

If you've enabled "Share With App Developers" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized crash and performance data with us through App Store Connect. We use it only to fix bugs.

Your rights

Your data is either on your device or in your own iCloud account — both under your control. You can access, correct, or delete it at any time via in-app controls, iOS Settings, or the CSV export feature in Sightline's Settings.

Children

Sightline is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Deleting your data

  • Delete a single round or recording — use the in-app controls.
  • Delete everything from this device — uninstall the Sightline app. Local data is removed; your iCloud copy remains and will restore the next time you install Sightline while signed into the same Apple ID.
  • Delete everything including iCloud — uninstall the app, then go to iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Sightline → Delete Data. This permanently removes the iCloud copy.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the update will be published at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
